Silk Smitha’s Brother On Dirty Picture… Biopics 6/7

by on Apr.27, 2011, under Interviews

I dam badly wished I could write this in a bigger-better way, at a better platform as a piece on a big-banner production house and their so-called ‘biopic’ on Silk Smitha! Naga Vara Prasad, own brother of the late south-Indian actress Silk Smitha, is a lorry driver, and lives off Eluru shared something rather damning about the whole movie! Before that- thanking time! Tracing him was made possible by Mr. Srinivas from Hyderabad, a journalist himself, and suggesting the idea of using his help came from our editor Ms. Y. Chakraborty. Thanks a ton to both of them… here’s what he said in Telugu, which his wife translated for me in Hindi…

Do you know about the movie being made?
We got to know it about three (now about 7) weeks back from television news. We live in village. Had we been in the city, we would have known earlier. Only her (Smitha’s) brother is alive, while her mother passed away about 10 years back. Only this brother sister. Smitha used to visit her mother while she was alive, while we often went to see her in Madras.

Has any other film been made on your sister so far?
No other film has been made yet. This is a first. She was born here, studied here. Got friends here. We may go Parsur Venkatesh, Chiranjivi, Balkrishna or others with a complaint on this soon… we have known all these people in Silk Smitha’s lifetime. Smitha had introduced us to them. But since her death, we lost the touch…

Will you like if film being made?
We will not object if they make a good film. But how do we find what they making? They have not contacted us or come to this place ever…

It is amazing how the makers of Dirty Picture claim to have been training Vidya Balan for months now. The film is already started shooting according to my sources. Perhaps, the makers do not even know these people exist and in this part of the world. Or, may be, they know, and intend to go over and show them the movie when it’s completed, to get a NOC. Or do you think a disclaimer, after all, will be used?

I direly wish someone did a story on this, questioning Milan Luthria about it all! We may get some sensible gossip to talk about, if nothing more!

Thanks for the read… now the final entry on biopic!
